If you’ve been in Fort Collins for longer than a few months, you’ll know by now that single-use plastic bags are difficult to come by – brown paper bags are the only kind in sight at grocery stores, and a $.10 fee is charged per each of those bags. The team here at Ace Hardware of Fort Collins has gotten quite good at remembering to take our reusable bags when we go grocery shopping, and we’re always proud to sport our Ace Hardware tote bags around town!

Starting January 1st, retailers – not just grocery stores – are also required to charge a $.10 fee for each disposable bag provided to customers at checkout. This means that Ace Hardware of Fort Collins will be charging this small bag fee in the new year. We hope that doing so will encourage our customers towards the sustainable practice of bringing reusable bags on all their shopping adventures. 

While we understand that this new fee may be inconvenient for some of our customers, we hope that everyone will find something to be excited about when it comes to our next announcement!

On Saturday, January 14 and Sunday, January 15th, we’re celebrating the New Year and thanking our customers for shopping locally by hosting a special deal: The first 150 customers each day will receive a FREE custom Ace Hardware Colorado reusable bag. What’s more, anyone who receives or purchases a reusable Ace Hardware bag gets 20% off nearly everything that fits in the bag! Some brands are excluded – such as Weber & Yeti – but a large selection of our stock is eligible for the deal!
