about-acehardware

“Julie and I are privileged to be part of such a strong culture of service and such a great team…” – Tim Kenney.

In 2003, Clays’ Ace Hardware, now known as Ace Hardware of Fort Collins formally opened their doors. After 12 years of being a go-to resource for local DIY-ers, owners Jim and Lisa Clay were ready to hand over the keys so they could pursue new ventures in northern Colorado. Tim and Julie Kenney took ownership of Clays’ Ace Hardware in November of 2015, continuing to operate with the same great team and same great service. With the transfer of ownership and simple identification, a new name was initiated and Clays’ Ace Hardware is now officially Ace Hardware of Fort Collins.

“We felt the name change was paramount for being easily identified by our loyal customers as an Ace Hardware store of our local community.” – Tim

Owner Tim Kenney worked in banking for 28 years while his wife Julie worked in the marketing industry prior to taking ownership of Ace Hardware of Fort Collins. Their combined business experience gave them the tools and expertise needed to lead one of the most successful hardware stores in the Front Range.

As longtime northern Colorado residents, Tim and Julie know what it means to be not just business owners, but dedicated members of the Fort Collins community. Their first priority is always ensuring that customers have all the necessary supplies, resources and knowledge to turn their living space into a palace. On any given day, you’ll likely find Tim out in the store – hands-on, meeting people and still carrying on the great service Ace is known for.

Ace Hardware began as a small chain of stores in 1924 and has grown to include more than 4,900 stores across all 50 states, the District of Columbia and approximately 60 countries. As part of a cooperative, every Ace Hardware store is independently owned.

From Our Customers…

I wanted to let you know that today Nick Anderson helped me above and beyond my expectations. He was able to provide unparalleled service and he is extremely knowledgeable. I am currently visiting here from Europe. I perform a lot of hands on work and am in contact with hardware stores and other employees very frequently. I have not received the level of excellent service and willingness to help in any other hardware store, ever! Please pass along my gratitude and congratulations to him and his trainer for an excellent job!Alexandra A.
I went in to buy a lawn mower and there were three employees working. One of them was busy with a customer, another was Shannon, the manager, and the third was a new employee in training. The new employee, Pam, was very kind and offered her help despite being what I imagine was her first day on the job. Shannon came over to help Pam through the checkout process. Both women were great to work with, and Shannon was beyond amazingly helpful. This store is now officially my store of choice for tools and appliances.David S.
Hello, I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know about my positive experience at your store. I came by during the last snow storm on Feb. 1 and a nice young gentleman helped me purchase my first snow shovel, ice melt and sleds. He was knowledgeable and friendly and I truly appreciated his help after just moving up here from Arizona. The ice melt was a godsend (my movers came to deliver my stuff early the next morning!) and my shovel works spectacularly! Thank you so much for your great store and service.Katie L.

Meet Our Team

Along with his wife, Julie, Tim took ownership of Ace Hardware of Fort Collins in 2015. His nearly 30 years of experience in the retail and commercial banking industry – not to mention his volunteer work in the northern Colorado community – prepared him well for this endeavor. Tim lives every day staying as helpful as possible. In fact, his loyalty to Ace runs so deep that his go-to karaoke song is none other than the Ace jingle itself: “Ace is the place with the helpful hardware folks!”

  • Julie Kenney

    Secretary-Treasurer & Co-Owner

Julie is enjoying her involvement with Ace Hardware of Fort Collins. She currently works full-time with The Health District of Northern Larimer County promoting and supporting their client programs for a healthy life. • Mike Buderus

    Store Manager

Mike may just win the longevity award at Ace. With 14 years under his belt, he is your go-to team member for any question on DIY projects. His fantasy travel locations include England and Ireland, or just a laid back fishing trip across Canada.

  • Leah Tiley

    Assistant Manager

Leah has been a trusty Ace team member since 2008 and worked her way up the ranks. She has formed close bonds with her fellow team members and customers she greets on a daily basis. • Stacey Ramis

    Senior Assistant Manager

Stacy has been a dedicated member of the Ace team since 2014, but her retail experience dates all the way back to 1990.
